I took my younger brother to the during the school holidays and he loved it, even though he complained that he thought he would be bored.

When we first got there we noticed a big projector screen, and a lady setting up a wii console to it. She explained to us that they were running competitions on the wii for the children. My brother doesn't have a wii so he really wanted to have a go. He had a great time versing other kids on the games and even won a cool prize. He even made a few friends too!

Once the wii competition was over I was able to encourage him to look at the books and choose some to read. He really enjoyed searching through the bookshelves and found a few funny novels which he sat down and read while I read as well.

It kept his mind awake and occupied instead of staring at an iPod or DS screen all day. He finished one novel and decided he wanted to borrow a few to take home. When I told him it was free to take books home, he was delighted and filled up his library bag with a few more.

While I used the computer for half an hour my brother had a look at some Wheres Wally? books. When I was finished I noticed that he was talking to another little boy about his age. It was wonderful to see my brother making new friends at the library, the little boy even told us he goes there every second day, so we were bound to run into him again.

When it was time to leave my brother helped me scan the books through and put them in our library bag, then we went home.

My brother even said he wanted to help review the library and said, "I really loved going to the library, at first it sounded boring and too quiet for me, but when I got there I realized there was lots to do. Even though I love playing on my DS, iPod and Xbox, I still think the library is a great place to go. I want to go there more often now because I can make more friends going there. My favorite book there that I read was called Captain Underpants."

I was proud of my brother for trying something new, and I learnt that day that even children who love their technology can still appreciate and find some fun within the local library.
