A gorgeous ice blue vintage caravan sat outside Nanna Cool Markets in Chelsea last weekend, enticing customers to bask in her glory by serving coffees and snacks to admiring folk.
Franklin Coffee @ Nanna Cool Market
Franklin Coffee is "the travelling coffee company", a restored 1964 Franklin model caravan, rescued from a Gippsland paddock and given a new lease on life as a mobile cafe.
A young vintage loving Mornington couple Lucy and Nathan Hersey are the owners of this beautiful vehicle and innovative business, travelling Victoria to serve fine coffees and light snacks to an appreciative crowd.
Lucy and Nathan Hersey noticed a difficulty in finding good coffees at any of the markets they visited themselves, so thought they'd try out a travelling coffee concept using the knowledge and backgrounds they had in hospitality and business.
Restoring Franklin was no easy feat for Lucy and Nathan, purchased without an inspection, the couple soon realised that poor old Franklin had almost reached a state of disrepair. The couple had to rebuild the caravan from the floor up in a project that took 5 months of hard work. (more on the harrowing tale here ).

Perseverance paid off, and the end result is charmingly evident.
Franklin isn't just about looking pretty, coffees and chai lattes served from the van's window match its greatness.
Franklin Coffee travels to markets in and around Melbourne, on the road practically every weekend. Franklin has regular gigs at the Emu Plains Market in Balnarring, and at Belgrave Big Dreams Market in Belgrave, and is available for private bookings.
