A recent creation from the ultimate duo, Jason Scott and Anton Forte (owners of the very popular Shady Pines Saloon and the Baxter Inn), Frankie's can best be described as an old school American-esque rock and roll pizza parlour dive bar. It oozes attitude, donning checked table clothes, quiet dim corners, walls coated with old school posters, pinball machines and the best rock anthems playing until 4am, every night of the week.
Unlike its sibling venues, the only cocktail on offer is frozen margarita's with the bar mainly serving an impressive range of international beers, plus the usual spirits with mixers and wine. One of the best items on offer at Frankie's is the ridiculously tasty, freshly made pizza that is served all night long.
The venue has roughly two sections. As you enter the bar, you are greeted with the trance inducing aroma of fresh pizza, and many satisfied smiles. Through a set of small doors the grungy rock and roll dive bar and arcade area is revealed.
I recently visited with the intention to move onto other bars close by, but ended up staying among the friendly bar staff, the cozy atmosphere and interesting crowd until closing. Be aware that this is a small place with very limited seating available, so be sure to get in early to ensure entry and sufficient space.
Frankie's is sure to become a well loved favourite for all of Sydney's night owls.
