Recently opened along Goodall Parade in Mawson Lakes, Franco's Deli is an Italian deli where you can enjoy a good range of panini sandwiches and coffee. This deli is opened by 16-year-old Carlo Capone, who wishes to open a place offering authentic Italian food. During our visit, a small piece of biscotti came with the cup of coffee that we ordered.

While it is served at room temperature, the crumbed eggplant in their Crumbed Eggplant Focaccia still had a crisp crumb coating. The eggplant also had a nice bite to it. Capsicum added moistness and sweetness to the dish and freshness was provided by baby spinach. Aioli tied the ingredients together and the focaccia had a light and fluffy texture. For those concerned about the taste of the torched provolone cheese, it was not too strong.

Their Chicken Pesto Toasted Focaccia had a generous quantity of chicken, which was cooked just right. The pesto sauce imparted its distinctive flavour to the chicken and rocket leaves added a peppery flavour. The tomatoes went well with the other ingredients, and the focaccia was toasted sufficiently to make it crisp and warm. We were able to have ours made without the Swiss cheese.

Diners who visit before 11 am can enjoy a focaccia with a breakfast-inspired filling. The strips of bacon were not too tough and the fried egg had a runny yolk. Completing the dish were crunchy onions and tomato sauce to ensure the sandwich was not too dry. If you desire, a hash brown can be added at an additional cost.

Aside from their focaccias, the deli also offers a selection of pastries. The size of the Crumble Croissant was generous. The pastry of the croissant was crisp and light, and the caramel filling did not taste too sweet. Extra crunch was provided by the crumble topping and a light dusting of icing sugar. The freeze-dried raspberry powder gave it an eye-catching appearance.

The decor of the deli gave it a casual feel. There was a decent amount of seating for dine-in customers. Its location makes it convenient for those at Mawson Lakes who desire to enjoy delicious Italian deli food.
