How many times have you avoided taking your children to a cafe for fear of meltdowns, mess or boredom? I think I stopped counting. Fear not, is a delightful florist and tea room complete with a children's cubby to entertain the little munchkins while you enjoy a relaxed cuppa with friends. It is a beautiful space to bring the kids and not worry about disturbing others, and you might even pick up a moss ball while you are thereā€¦

is set in a quaint Queenslander cottage divided into smaller rooms so people can sit and relax among the flowers. You will find Francesca busily floating between the flowers and coffee - could there possibly be a happier job? The homely back room has one big square table next to a kid's corner equipped with toys, books and drawing resources, which certainly buys enough time to enjoy a coffee and a slice of cake.

Each time I have visited Francesca's with my daughters and our friends we have had free rein of the back room. This space can be booked for mothers groups, which, despite not having much room for prams, comfortably fits eight people around the square table. The room is inviting and pretty, and a private oasis from the rest of the shop.

is predominantly a floristry business but also simply and deliciously sells tea, coffee, cake and biscuits. The coffee is lovely (Natural Bean) and my cappuccino even came with a chocolate flower on top. There is an interesting selection of loose leaf teas, including ginger kiss, china gunpowder and monk black. Cakes such as lemon and blueberry, carrot, or salted caramel layer cake (my favourite) are hard to turn down, and there are also some gluten free options. You will not find other food at Francesca's, however parents are welcome to bring along any food or snacks for their children.

For those interested in a few hours of floristry (and of course coffee and cake), Francesca also offers flower arranging or moss ball workshops throughout the year. Moss balls, otherwise known as kokedama originating from Japan, hang throughout the store and make an interesting gift. Workshops are usually $95 for 3hrs with all materials provided and includes flowers to take home. Upcoming workshops are on their website with flexible dates available for group bookings of 6-8 people.

Whether it be flowers or a haggle-free coffee, has my vote.
