She has been described as "Australia's rising star of jazz and blues" by Fine Music 102.5 FM and The Paris Cat welcomes back singer and piano player Frances Madden with her band for what is sure to be another two sell-out shows.
It has been a busy time for Frances. In the past year, she has supported the legendary Dionne Warwick and also Grammy Award-winner Gregory Porter in their Sydney concerts and headlined at the JZ Club in Shanghai. She attracted capacity crowds to her shows at The Basement in Sydney as well as her performances at Manly and Devonport Jazz Festivals. Sydney radio station Fine Music 102.5 FM announced Frances as their Stefan Kruger Award winner for 2017.
Her upcoming shows at The Paris Cat are part of an eight show East Cost tour that also takes in Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart and finishes at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival.
Frances captivates her audiences with a combination of her genuinely warm stage presence along with a voice and style that are uniquely her own. Audiences can expect Frances' own original tunes – irresistible swing, beautiful ballads and smokey blues – alongside her popular renditions of all-time classics.
"I'm really looking forward to the tour. We'll be doing a mix of jazz, blues & ballads including some of my original tunes together with our interpretation of timeless classics. There will be a variety of tempos and new arrangements, some beautiful harmonies and also some clever improvisation from great musicians in the band. There will be something for everyone and of course, we'll be giving some special love to Nina Simone's classic 'Feeling Good' in each show" said Frances.
Whilst Frances has won praise for her interpretation of timeless classics, it is her own original songs which have made her music popular with a wider audience. As James Morrison put it "Frances has a wonderful feeling for jazz and blues standards but what makes her a real stand-out are her original songs and unique style."
As well as Frances on vocals and piano, her seven-piece band includes a mix of Melbourne and Sydney's most talented jazz musicians.
Frances Madden and band will perform at The Paris Cat Jazz Club on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 October. The show commences at 8.30pm sharp. Doors open from 8.00pm. General Admission tickets are $35. Tapas and bar menu available. Advance bookings highly recommended as Frances' previous shows at The Paris Cat have all sold out. To make a booking, please visit pariscat.com.au
