Having heard the restaurant and bar at the Sydney Flying Squadron had been recently refurbished, I decided to check it out after work on Friday night. A short walk from North Sydney Ferry Wharf, (its also a short walk from Milsons Point station downhill), Foys is right on the water - so expect amazing water views. Perfect for watching the storm.

amazing views from the downstairs area
Entering the club, the restaurant has a nice open and refreshing vibe to it. Staff were very friendly and the restaurant was filling up quickly so bookings are recommended. There were plenty of seats in the bar area though. There are 2 outdoor areas - 1 just off the restaurant, and the other downstairs which would be perfect for an afternoon drink. There's no bar downstairs, but they have a cafe which is open during the day which would be nice for a lazy weekend breakfast.
The menu had the classics - fish & chips, burger, steak as well as some sharing plates (slow cooked lamb shoulder, whole lemon sole, chicken), as well as a selection of daily specials (last night they had jerk chicken, crispy white bait). We sat downstairs to enjoy the view and food was promptly delivered to us. Good size portions and decent quality.
Will definitely be back esp during the summer season. Good place to take out of town visitors as well as its a different view of Sydney and feels like a hidden pocket yet so close to the city.
