Tucked away in a leafy Nambour side street is the Lind Theatre, home of community theatre group Nambour Lind Lane Theatre Inc. The theatre is a fully equipped professional standard venue, with a bar offering an amazing variety of drinks options at unbeatable prices, plus tea and filter coffee and snacks.

The Lind's November offering is the heartwarming and hilarious Four Flat Whites in Italy, by Roger Hall, New Zealand's most celebrated playwright. Hall excels in putting real characters in 'interesting' situations, and watching them squirm! Audiences love his plays because they recognise themselves, their family, or their acquaintances.

Director Julian White is highly experienced in presenting comedy, with credits such as Move Over Mrs Markham and Will You Still Love Me in the Morning?.

The story involves Adrian and Alison, who have been looking forward to their much-anticipated Italy trip for a long time – the art, the culture, the history! But when the couple they were planning to go with drop out, their new neighbours invite themselves along. Loud, obnoxious Harry and his 'trophy wife' Judy are the opposite of retired librarians Adrian and Alison, and the trip looks set to be a little…different than they'd planned.

Tensions arise from sharing everything from the bathroom to the bill. And as for sharing the driving on the autostrada! Bookish meets boorish in what could turn out to be the holiday from hell.

Production for the play involved some challenges, with scenes taking place in a variety of exotic locations. The Lind team love challenges and have come up with a set and props which will delight audiences.

The central four characters are played by Clem van der Weegen, Sarah Blaike, Kirsty White and Martin Harding, all Lind Lane favourites.

In a fun twist, all other roles are shared by just two actors, Will Perez-Ronderos and Hayley Saunders. Hayley is loving the full-on variety offered by this play – seven characters in different costumes, plus a lot of furniture to move around!

Will, originally from Venezuela, plays in his words "the multi-use Italian guy". He majored in theatre at university and loves to stay involved in the arts.

In charge of technical is Josh Wilson, who's excited to be testing the Lind's brand new data projector for this play. "We'll be putting this to great use," said Josh. "Being able to project backgrounds for our plays really boosts our staging possibilities".

Audiences are advised that this play contains adult themes and frequent coarse language.

Four Flat Whites in Italy opens 9 November at 7:30 and continues till 17 November at Lind Lane Theatre, 16 Mitchell St, Nambour. Bookings online via www.lindlane.com.au or phone 1300 732 764.
