A day to celebrate the birthday of Parramatta, Foundations Day reminds residents how far the city has come since Governor Arthur Phillip declared a settlement would be built here in 1788. The event falls on November 2, which will be a Sunday this year, and celebrations will take the form of a street party running from 2.00pm to 9.30pm.
Activities will be focused on Church Street, where stages will be erected for performers like
Lanie Lane,
Jeff Lang,
Microwave Jenny,
All Our Exes Live in Texas,
The Basement Big Band and
Inland Navigators. A smaller kid's festival will have activities including workshops, while there will be food from local restaurants, talks, sports activities with the
Western Sydney Wanderers and
Parramatta Eels, stalls, an open kitchen and more.
