What a perfect name for this unique little shop. Spend some time rummaging around and you're sure to find a treasure. looks like an upmarket op shop but it only sells new products discounted by up to 70%.

Located opposite the Commonwealth Bank, this store is not on the main road so most of the customers come especially to pick up a luxurious silk, vintage style garment or an unusual "one of" piece. Fossick's also stock a range of jewellery at clearance prices. The ten and twenty dollar racks outside are jam packed with great bargains and not just for waifs. In fact, the whole shop is stocked to the brim with bright and varied original pieces and accessories.

It doesn't matter what age or size you are, you are likely to find something perfect in the eclectic range of clothing including samples, end of line, past season, clearance and seconds.

While I was at Fossick's a lady came in and said she had seen a top on the sale rack that she loved so she did a u turn to come in and try it on. Unfortunately it was the wrong size and it was the only one of its kind in the shop.

Add to the mix of 'must return criteria' is Jo. She clearly loves her job. She told me she is now a local who loves the Diamond Creek community. She said the shop is somewhat like the Fried Green Tomatoes movie. Customers sometimes just drop in for a chat. The regulars don't always live local, they travel to this friendly little store that feels a bit like being in Brunswick.

Jo and Jane (owner) have been in retail for years so they have lots of contacts to find special fabrics and products at good prices. They also travel overseas to source unique items.

I always shop when I'm nervous and because I was stalling before I had to go to the dentist next door I lashed out. Upon Jo's recommendation I tried on an item I wouldn't have normally picked but I love it. Reduced from $82 to $49 the grey dress looks great over a long sleeve longer black dress at half price ($59 reduced to $29). I couldn't pick between two long necklaces so I bought them both but what the heck they were only $9 each. My bargain of the day was a lovely bright floral blouse for only $10 (reduced from $95)! So overall three garments and two necklaces for only $106.

I normally buy oversized gear but Jo said 'Trust me' and wouldn't let me get away with any of that nonsense. She said she wanted her customers to feel good about their choices, to wear them and come back.

I took a real liking to Jo, especially when she told me she runs special late night openings where groups can come and have an exclusive shopping experience. They recently had one for a cancer sufferer and donated ten percentage of the sales to charity.

I wish Fossick's had a frequent buyers card because it's the kind of store that once found, you want to go back over and over again.

I love the idea that the stock is always changing and being refreshed so you never know what you might find.

The really good thing is that I didn't have to get a root canal so I can afford to go back to soon… and then soon after that… and soon after that!
