Okay, so people watching might not seem like a great activity you can do that anywhere, anytime, so why go to The Valley to do it?

Fortitude Valley is close to Brisbane city, just one suburb over. It is a short trip on the bus or one stop on the train from Central Station. It's the main spot for nightclubs and bars and The Valley comes to life when the sun goes down. So what's it like during the day?

If you're staying in the city, hop on the train to The Valley, pull up a stool and order a beer at one of the bars on Brunswick Street Mall and watch as the people pass.

There are plenty of vagabonds in the Valley sleeping, begging, busking or just wandering the streets.

There are also those in formal business attire, women struggling in stilettos and men in suits on uncomfortably humid days.

Head around the corner to China Town Mall and try some of the Chinese food, or if you don't feel like Chinese ,head to Thai Wi-Rat, it was some of the best Thai food I've had for about $13 dollars.

Sit on the street and people watch again!

Your Comment
As a photographer, I do this all the time, the Valley is an interesting place to see the juxtaposition between two totally different socio-economics, yet they merge together so well.
