The middle of the North Lakes medical precinct seems a somewhat unlikely spot for fine coffee at first. The Saturday morning streets are quiet and the chemists and health professional offices all seem closed. Fort is most definitely open however, and is drawing a crowd easily, especially on a Saturday morning.

There is plenty of easy parking here and the service is quick and very friendly. It's a warm vibe and the posse of young staff are welcoming to all that enter. I had a coffee & croissant pitstop with my sleeping two month old baby next to a young family next to some hip young things. Fresh bread is stacked on the kitchen countertop, and quickly diminishes with breakfast and brunch orders. There's a small but varied menu including avocado mash with goats cheese on sourdough bread, brioche and fresh muffins and croissants.

The Fort Coffee has a friendly-cool atmosphere (roof art is a nice touch) with an open plan of assorted seating from couches to window stools to communal tables. Good music, great service and, most importantly, excellent coffee. Well worth a visit.
