My boys and I had an interesting time at this year's Living History festival at Fort Lytton over the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

The festival featured everything from friendly Vikings (who helped my boys try on some very cool helmets) to 16th century Spanish fencers and American Civil War re-enactors.

Along with hearing the cannons fire and watching the archers shoot, we enjoyed seeing this colonial surgeon demonstrating his skills ...
