Looking for to some top quality theatre to see locally during the festival season? The Stirling Players will open their 2017 season with the SA Premiere of FORGET ME NOT. This powerful Australian drama by Tom Holloway will be directed by multi award-winning director, Megan Dansie. The season runs from 17 February to 4 March 2017 at The Stirling Community Theatre, Avenue Road, Stirling.

On Friday, 20th January 2017 Northern Ireland's Historical Institutional Abuse inquiry recommended compensation for former child "migrants" who were transported to Australia in the 1940s and 1950s. In many cases, their parents were not told the truth about where they were being sent. Over 3,000 children were taken from poor and single-parent families and, in nearly all instances, the children were told that their parents were dead. The children were promised a new start in a new country where oranges and sunshine were plentiful. The reality for these children was very different.

Holloway has set his story in the here and now. FORGET ME NOT focuses on Gerry, a 60 year old Victorian farm worker who was one of the children shipped from Liverpool to Australia. He has spent his whole life believing he's an orphan and continually struggles to come to terms with his past. Sally his daughter, is struggling to cope with his problems until she decides to find out the truth about her father's past. According to the records, his mother lives in Liverpool in the UK. Now, 60 years later Gerry is going home to meet his mother for the first time since he was three years of age to find out what has made him who he is.

Tom Holloway has created a series of conversations raw, often harrowingly beautiful dialogue between members of a separated family. Bringing it all together, is Gerry's remarkable, dubious undertaking to finally discover what it means to love and belong to a family.
