I am a hungry artist living and working in Sydney. I am completing a philosophy degree and enjoy life.

Forever New, Forever Refreshing
Shopping at Forever New is an experience. You start by entering the sparkly and clean spacious shop; it is like a breath of fresh air in comparison to the dirty chaos that is George Street at the moment, with sweaty, pushy shoppers jostling for position and the noisy construction going on all up and down what was once the main street in Sydney. I guess old habits die-hard and people just cannot bring themselves to find alternative routes to their favourite destinations. This being the case, it can be guaranteed that you will feel refreshed by entering the alternative universe of Forever New. It is a place that gives shoppers space in more ways than one.

You will find one of the fascinating things about this shop is the wide aisles that mercifully give you a sense of really being able to browse and consider your purchases in an unhurried way. You can even pleasantly speak with friends in this shop without feeling like you are doing anybody a disservice.

The best thing about this shop is the accessories rather than the clothes, which can be a bit boring and run of the mill. They offer basic Camisoles in many different colour choices for $39.95; They offer simple styles that are suitable for women of all ages, despite the impression that this is the domain of the young, with the big sparkly lettering of the shop sign, the actual merchandise is classic looking and would suit the mature business woman as much as the young party girl.

The best finds in terms of accessories are the (difficult to source) hypoallergenic earrings, which are perfect for someone who suffers from allergies. For costume jewellery it is good quality and states on the packaging the type of jewels used – for example – glass stone or cubic zirconia – good to know if your friends or family ask at Christmas time which avoids the awkward moment of admitting that you are not sure about what it is made of – hopefully not plastic. The prices vary but in general, you can pick up a nice pair for $14.95.

If you are buying for someone who is of a practical persuasion you should not look past their range of bags; The Cleo Camera Bag in Sepia Rose $39.95 is cute and just big enough to be a practical bag that will get a lot of use. The Classic Laptop bag in Black is perfect for the business minded person who likes to be stylish and appreciates the practical in a gift. It is on offer for $79.95, it would suit a stylish student or businesswoman.

For the person who likes the tropical but classy lifestyle a good choice (if you can sneak a look at their shoe size) is the 'Cally Embellished' Sandals, they are diamond inspired and strappy, perfect for a sunset cruise or beach-side drinks. They are on offer for $69.95.

Forever New is a wonderful store to take your time in and really choose the right gift, part of the appeal of Forever New is just the store experience itself, and if you know someone who loves either their classic style clothing or practical or accessories then you will enjoy the little break from the usual Xmas mad rush.

Your Comment
Great article, love your honesty Amy. I agree, their clothes are basic and a bit overpriced for what they are
