Forestville Reserve is an unlikely spot, trapped between a car park and a train station, this scenic creek park is a great place for picnicking, skating, or exercising. The reserve features council installed, free to use, fitness equipment, and a skate park.
It is a lovely place to sit down and have a picnic. The creek runs right through the reserve, separating the skate park and fitness equipment from the other grassy bank. There are plenty of walking paths, and there is a playground for children. The layout of the reserve means that there is room for plenty of families to congregate while each still has their own space.
Forestville Reserve has a simple skate park, with stairsets and ramps. This is a great spot for beginner skaters as there is space to practice skating and some tricks, without anything being too advanced. At the skate park you must wear protective gear like knee pads and elbow pads, and appropriate footwear. Children under eight using the skate park must be supervised by an adult.
Forestville Reserve is also home to an exercise playground. What first appears to be some sort of play equipment is actually fitness equipment installed by Unley Council. It is free to use, and each piece of equipment has step-by-step instructions on how to use the item. The reserve also has a basketball hoop, for any budding basketball or netball players who want to practice shooting some hoops.
The reserve is a well laid out public space, with plenty of facilities to suit the old and the young. Tucked closely to other amenities, and is a great place to stop off for the day.
