The award-winning New Farm Nash Theatre is proudly presenting a limited season of the popular farce The Foreigner by American playwright and actor Larry Shue.
Originally premiering 1983, the play has become a staple of professional and amateur theatre and is the recipient of two Obie Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards.
The New Farm Nash Theatre production will be directed by Gary Kliger and feature a talented ensemble cast.
Set in a resort-style fishing lodge in rural Georgia, the play centres on meek Englishmen Charlie Baker, who is introduced to the locals as a native of an exotic country who doesn't speak English. Charlie immediately becomes the subject of wonder and suspicion and when others begin to speak freely around him, he uncovers a few secrets about them and also learns a few things about himself!
On the surface, this engaging comedy-drama about a neurotically shy Englishman's bluff is a hilarious farce, but there are some serious lessons about tolerance and cultural diversity.
Don't miss this opportunity to see the acclaimed play in the intimate venue of The Brunswick Room at Merthyr Road Uniting Church.
