Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway is a long-running Off-Broadway revue which spoofs popular musicals such as Chicago, Wicked, Hello Dolly, Les Miserables, Phantom of The Opera, CATS, Fiddler on The Roof, Hairspray and A Chorus Line.
In this acclaimed production, audiences will see Broadway's greatest musical legends share the stage and perform an endlessly entertaining roast of some of theatre's greatest stars and songwriters.
Directed by Martin Barbary, Forbidden Broadway takes your favourite Broadway characters and show-stopping songs and weaves a clever new narrative.
There are several different versions of Forbidden Broadway and the upcoming The Blackwood Players production is 'Forbidden Broadway Greatest Hits'.
This all-ages show features talented pianist Sarah Klein live on the main stage, plus a talented cast of 16 singers and dancers.
In its various incarnations Forbidden Broadway has been performed over 9,000 times and it is also the recipient of 9 Drama Desk Awards and a special Tony Award. The last time Forbidden Broadway was performed in Adelaide - it was a sold-out success.
Forbidden Broadway will play at the Blackwood Memorial Hall at 21, Coromandel Parade, Blackwood every Friday and Saturday night at 8:00pm from the 31st July to the 15th August 2015.
