I met a man in Footscray who keeps racing pigeons. Every night, he lets a bunch of about 100 have a fly. They zoom around in huge circles.

Stretching their wings', he called it.

This was taken from Footscray Train Station as the birds wheeled around, catching the light. Watching them dip and glide as one was mesmerising. Sometimes the commonplace can thrill.
