Monthly pop-up markets are coming to Footscray station! The Footscray Lions Club are setting up a monthly market that will be held on the third Sunday of every month. The market will feature retro themed stalls which will run from 8am to 1:30pm. It begins this Sunday!
The market will set up shop at Footscray station (Irving street, Footscray). It will be a monthly fundraiser for the Footscray Lions Club's work within the western suburbs. The market also gives Footscray Lions a visual presence that contributes to making Footscray station a more livelier, happier and safe hub. The market theme comes from Lions Club is Retro, Retro is good.
The funds raised from the market will go towards the Footscray Lions club's work within the community. The club helps at a direct level, such as removing thistle bushes from the home of an elderly grandmother tasked with taking care of disabled grandchildren. At a local level, the club has in the past run soup vans, provided funding for communications services through Yoralla, and supported the Youth Exchange and the Youth Awards program.
The Footscray Lions serves to assist and serve the community. The club has helped many individuals or groups which have fallen on hard times. The club supports services within the west, include Les Twentyman's 20th Man project, support services that assist families with drug and alcohal problems (Joseph's Corner) and new beds for the children's unit at Western Health hospitals. The Footscray Lions also assists an international eye program.
Come and join in the market fun. Support a local community event that will hopefully get bigger and bigger. Just rock up on the day and enjoy
the Footscray Lions Retro market .
