The Parks Youth Theatre presents 'Footloose' at The Parks Theatre - Theatre One from Wednesday 11th October until Saturday 14th October. Based on the stage production by Dean Pitchford, with music & lyrics by Tom Snow and Dean Pitchford.
This production is Directed by Michelle Davy, Vocally Directed by Kat Sasche and Choreographed by Mackenzie Price. Based on the 1984 film of the same name, it's the story of Ren MacCormack raised in the big city Chicago who moves to a small town where rock music and dancing have been banned. He falls in love with Ariel, whose father is a reverend of the local church. Ariel's boyfriend Chuck is abusive and Ren thinks he would be better suited for her.
Ren and his classmates want to abolish the no-dancing law and have a senior prom so he goes before the city council but the council vote against him. The students decide to hold their prom outside the town's borders in a warehouse of a grain mill and dance the night away.
Featuring all your favorite songs from the musical including 'Footloose', 'Let's Hear It for the Boy', 'Almost Paradise', 'Holding Out for a Hero', 'Dancing In The Sheets', I'm Free', 'Somebody's Eyes', 'The Girl Gets Around' and 'Never'.
