Darfur is the western region of Sudan, Africa but it is not a country in itself. The region was home to about 6 million people and is about the size of France. DAN is a not-for-profit community organisation who aims to raise awareness about the continuing tragedy in the Darfur region of Sudan; assist in resettlement of Darfur refugees and build solidarity between the people of Darfur and Australia. Founded in May 2006 it has become Australia's most prominent advocacy organisation creating positive change in the lives of people facing risk of abuse in Darfur.
