For those who like curry, this is where you want to be! If you do not like hot food, this is still the place you want to be as not all curries are spicy hot! This is a new food festival dedicated to the world's most popular dish: curry!

There are many different types of curries. Some people say the word curry was derived from a Tamil word, "kari". "Kari" simply means "spiced sauce".

Other people say that curry could be derived from the Hindi word for a wok-shaped cooking vessel, "kara". There seem to be several versions of what the word really means.

However, the word curry actually describes any food or vegetables, meat or fish which is made with or served with a sauce. Therefore if you really think you do not like curries, you are limiting yourself as they can be made as spicy or as mild as you wish and are really a stew!

Curry is really a word used to describe a dish with a sauce spiced with flavours like turmeric, ginger, cumin and chillies to name a few.

There are many different curry blends which you can make yourself or buy. Some of these turn out sweet and range from mild to hot and spicy.

The British colonisation took spices from the Indian subcontinent all over the world and then grew them everywhere. Some of the best curries are found in Indian, Sri Lankan, Malaysian, Mauritian and African cuisine amongst others.
