When fashion meets street food

You have to hand it to Melbourne's Food Trucks they know where the people are.

And yes this time of year we turn our thoughts and steering wheels towards shopping centres. There is the outfit to buy for all those pre-Christmas functions not to mention all the Christmas shopping that needs to be ticked of the list.

And while it may be out in the burbs many recognise Chadstone as Melbourne's leading shopping capital. Which is why Melbourne's finest food trucks will descend on the Fashion Capital this summer.

There will be a Christmas VIP Shopping Party on Tuesday, November 17, when the Food Truck Park (TM) Chadstone will have something yum for everyone.

Take a break from shopping and share a few plates with family and friends in the alfresco atmosphere, or what fun to grab a quick bite on the run.

There will be a roster of food trucks rotating on a daily basis over an eight week period from November the 17th through to Sunday, January 3.

The food truck park is located outside on the ground level near the Coles entrance and will operate from 11am – 10pm daily.

So it is go, go,go. From burritos to bibimbap, burgers, barbecue and brûlée, the growing popularity of food trucks chow is here to wow us. There will be a rotating line up of more than 30 vendors including:

Sliders on Tyres – mini burgers with creative fillings from owner and Chef Owen Sungio, who left the world of fine dining in restaurants like Vue de Monde to deliver awesome street food for the people.

Cali.Ko – brings the best of L.A's Korean street food to the Food Truck Park, with favourites including fried chicken, tacos and rice bowls.

Dude Food Man – This is a great way to get your bloke out shopping with you. Burgers, pulled pork sliders and fries with smoky bacon from an ex-Chef with a big appetite.

Toasta – when all you need is a really, really good toastie. Toasta bringsl comfort food together with the finest produce. Big slabs of melting buttery toasty goodness.

Billy van Creamy – all natural, fresh and flavour-packed gelato and sorbet with flavours such as chocolate, hazelnut, espresso, pistachio, coconut, Kiwi fruit or lemon. All natural for one of those hot summery nights we all know are coming. They are coming, right?

Chadstone is the next stop for the Food Truck Park (TM ) after successful stints in Richmond, Preston, Coburg and on the Rye beachfront. I guess all the hungry folk from these far flung places will have to come to the suburbs now.

The Food Truck Park (TM )Chadstone is a key part of its Christmas 2015 offering, which also includes the Christmas Stories pantomime, 34 Hour Trade, Santa photos, gift wrapping, and a gift guide by Life With Style ambassador Chyka Keebaugh. You can find out more about Christmas activities at Chadstone here.

So come and join in the fun and revel in the food. That's the Christmas spirit!

Your Comment
What an awesome idea. Instead of complaining about lost business, many brick and mortar shops could learn a lot about being innovative from food trucks.
