Food to Make You Glow is Lola Berry's new cookbook with over ninety delicious whole food recipes. Lola is a best-selling author of seven cookbooks and this one makes a nice addition to your healthy cookbook collection.
Each section is colour coded and divided into six themes covering – happiness, immunity, calming, energy, weight and detox and beauty. Lola starts each chapter with her favourite lifestyle recommendations, herbal tea, exercises and activities for each health goal.
Each recipe has a full page with clear instructions, an easy to read ingredients list and serving size. Some recipes have handy tips. The recipes are clearly marked with special dietary requirements by an icon for dairy free, gluten free, grain free, paleo, vegan, vegetarian and raw.
You'll be tempted by raw, vegan chocolate 'Oreos', turmeric and banana pancakes with maple nice ice cream, 'Ferrero Rocher' granola, raw rainbow pasta with brazil nut and spinach pesto, thyme-poached chicken with roasted cauli and heirloom carrots and chai spice cookie sandwiches.
We cooked and enjoyed the simple poached salmon and salsa cruda (with a twist) served with a simple crunchy celery, macadamia and quinoa salad. I'm looking forward to trying the paleo brekkie loaf and the mum's Chrissy pud with whipped coconut cream.
The cookbook is gorgeous to look at and you can tell a team of talented people are behind Lola. The good thing about this book is that there aren't many obscure hard-to-find ingredients, apart from perhaps lavender, nettles and spirulina.
