Food Theatre Production, Riverside Theatre (Parramatta)

Sex, memories, love scenes, emotions, family, drama and of course food is what you are going to experience in this utter brilliant production. Food by Steve Rodgers takes theatre to a whole new level!

I had the opportunity to attend this magnificent fine theatre production and what a show it was! The acting was incredible, beyond description; it took us on a roller coaster of joy, tears and laughter and all over again...

From traces of desire and sexual violence into intimate and involving theatre, this is one "kneading" family drama that is filled with inter-cultural rom-com.

Food is certainly a theatre production that awakens the senses in more ways than one. From the tantalising corned beef, lamb shanks and fish pie to the erotic mix of movement and audience participation.

As stated on the Riverside Theatre website 'Food shows us that opening your mind and heart to change can lead to all sorts of wonderful surprises and opportunities' ... and it sure does!

About the theatre production:

Elma and her Chiko Rolls, along with her reminiscing ways are on the menu as she and her sister Nancy quietly wage war with their past and dream up a brighter future. Then one day a young sexy life-loving travelling Turkish man, filled with charm and sensuality, enters their kitchen and turns both their worlds around...

The two sisters run their family takeaway joint. Nancy is worldly and an extrovert, while Elma is reserved and deep, however, together they are bounded by their past.

Their dreams finally become a reality and they transform the run-down family fast-food shop into a restaurant showcasing Elma's gift for comfort food.

As an audience we found ourselves intimately being involved in the character's lives, emotions and we became restaurant guests as the sisters and the handsome kitchen hand Hakan served us local wine, minestrone soup, and sourdough bread.

This is one theatre show that really tantalises your senses. It delivers one of the most imaginative love scenes on stage and the choreography shows us human emotion beyond words.

With scenes from joyous to intense, erotic and sexy this is one feast that your taste buds will desire...
