After two sell-out picnic events, 'Picnic with the Mad Hatter', the Food Fossickers return to the beautiful Bendigo Botanic Gardens to once again showcase the very best of the region.
The Food Fossickers is a network of regional food businesses who are passionate about supporting the local food industry. It's about encouraging food lovers to seek out local tastes, watch those food miles and support small, passionate producers.
This year the focus is on the paddocks of central Victoria and the world class and award-winning meats that are farmed there. Come along from 11am and discover traditional farming methods and the best ways to prepare the finest meats, from grilling, to smoking and slow cooking.
The restaurants are back too, along with local wine makers and esteemed producers. Bendigo Beer, organiser of the annual Bendigo On The Hop, are also on board this year showcasing you craft beer which will be perfect for the feast you are going to have!
Complementing the ultimate carnivore's feast is a hand-picked selection of stallholders offering local chutneys, breads, cheeses, jams and condiments to accompany your lunch. Vegetarians are also catered for, along with those with a sweet tooth.
Adding to the festive atmosphere will be live music performances and entertainment, so bring your family and friends and feast from the central hub or simply graze your way around the stallholders.
