Food for Me Cafe

On a recent afternoon foray into the southern suburbs to discover some new eateries, I found myself in Food for Me cafe on the Albany Highway cafe strip.
Once inside I noticed the front of the cafe, which had a similar look and feel to a takeaway sandwich shop bursting with business types picking up lunch. A little further in was the cafe, full of tables and cosy booths. Simple decor, earthy green colours and dark wooden furniture further reinforced the casual, wholesome atmosphere of this cafe.
Now to the good stuff... You can order whatever you like from the display counters to eat in, and I must admit I had a hard time looking away from the chickpea salad but in the end I decided on the beef burger. At $13, although it came without any sides or garnish, the size of the beef patty in my burger made up for the chip/salad shortcoming; I was positively stuffed! My lunching partner chose the steak sandwich, also $13, and also seemed suitably satiated.
The Food for Me menu had a few solid all day staples and, while there wasn't a huge choice, I noticed that the lunch specials vary weekly. Free filtered water was also provided at the back of the cafe, which is a nice touch.
Public transport along Albany Highway is regular and a good option if you'd like to make a day of it in the shops and local coffee hot spots. Otherwise free parking is available at the nearby Park Centre shopping centre. For more information or to view the
latest menu , visit their
website or call the cafe on 9472 0333. If you're having a gathering or event Food for Me also do catering.
Despite its prominent corner position on Albany Highway this cafe's tasty food is as unpretentious as your local lunch bar's. From the friendly staff that greeted us as we walked in, to the robust, quality cafe fare on offer, Food for Me left a pleasant taste in my mouth.
