Fringe World and the Festival may have folded their tents for this year, but that doesn't mean the city heart will be standing empty. The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority is supporting the WA Folk Federation and bringing live music to the Perth Cultural Centre on four Sunday afternoons in March.



Keith Anthonisz, Chairman of the WA Folk Federation committee, described the range of artists for this year's performances as "diverse and covering all ages representing the depth of folk and roots music in Western Australia."

In addition to the line-ups below, Keith will be performing weekly as one-half of the popular John Mc Nair and Keith Anthonisz duet.

3 March
This is your chance to catch up-and-coming singer-songwriter Rachel Dillon . Rachel is a finalist for the 2013 Country Music WA "Best New Talent" award and has performed at numerous Australian festivals. Her songs tell stories about life and change using folk, bluegrass and country traditions.


The Jook Joint Band has also appeared at many festivals, including the Bridgetown Blues Festival. Playing everything from washboards to kazoos as well as guitar and harmonica, their energetic style and crowd-pleasing mix of blues, ragtime and rockabilly will have you on your feet dancing and clapping along.

Triple J Unearthed describes the roots/folk/pop sound of The Littlest Fox as "a mixture of earthy tones that are easy on the ear but resonate in the soul". Hailing from Perth's southern suburbs, the band has just released their first full-length album. The opening track Gypsy sets the tone for their "fresh, diverse" (Sound Telegraph review) style which will be enjoyed by all ages.



John Ralph is a traditional and contemporary folk musician and teacher. He is an established performer who plays Irish, Australian and American acoustic music as well as Classical Guitar. He has a long association with the WA Folk Federation and has also appeared at a range of music festivals.

17 March
Dave Robertson is "wanted in all states and territories for honest song writing" (Triple J Unearthed). His Little Scientist EP received radio airplay around Australia and his live performances have covered three continents. Now based in Fremantle, his local gigs included the Nannup and Fairbridge Festivals.


Mike De Velta combines blues, folk and a hint of the eastern expressed through lap slide, ukulele and acoustic guitars. In 2011 he released his album, "Whiskey in The Morning" to national acclaim. He received the Best Blues Artist award from the Global Thunda Independent Radio Network the same year. He plays regular gigs around Western Australia and has performed at the Bridgetown Blues and the West Coast Blues and Roots Festival.

24 March
Jeremy Threlfall is a guitarist and Australian traveler based in Perth and Bridgetown. While skilled in many styles, Jeremy has a love for country music. In Bridgetown he played guitar for the Star Pickets and he also performed traditional country, western swing and rock and roll classics with the Flying Saucers in Hobart.

Jamie McKinnon is from the traditional side of folk music representing a mature appreciation of Celtic folk music. Jamie has performed at the Port Fairy Folk Festival numerous times and has also been an organiser of Celtic music shows.

All performances take place on the Wetlands Stage from 12:30 - 3:30 pm
