There's nothing I love doing more on a weekend (or weekday for that matter) then going out to one of Brisbane's many cafes for breakfast. But as many cash strapped students out there know, accumulating notches on your foodie belt can be expensive and depending on what you order may cause the belt to no longer fit!
After visiting Flute Food & Wine, recently I may have found the perfect solution to both these problems without having to give up my fancy coffee and breakfast.
Flute Food & Wine is located at the food mecca which is Rosalie Village. It rubs shoulders with the likes of Salt, Blu Grotto, Sing's Asian Kitchen, Pasta Pantry and Sushi Lovers to name but a few. Sitting at a table with an old friend one Monday morning, I began to look over the menu and couldn't help but smile when I noticed written in front of me the solution to every poor cafe fans problem. Flute was offering a "healthy breakfast choice" and regular coffee for the small price of $14.95. Both my breakfast companion and my faces lit up and this is what we ordered. I decided upon the toasted macademia and coconut muesli with pear and yoghurt and my friend went with the poached eggs on toasted Turkish. We both had double skinny flat whites, it was a Monday morning after all.
The meals came out fast and were generous servings. The poached eggs were perfect and the turkish bread fresh and toasty. The muesli was delicious and super filling. If like me and you love your cafe coffee and breakfast and don't want to forgo them because of cost then I highly recommend getting down to Flute Food & Wine. Also if money and waistline isn't a concern for you there are numerous breakfast choices to satisfy any wallet and palate.
