Freelance writer from Brisbane exploring the city and surrounds to find the best coffee
Published October 28th 2019
An upmarket, licensed restaurant and cafe at Coorparoo Marketplace shopping centre, Flute is a well known local venue for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week. Opening at 6 am, it's a convenient coffee stop before work or excellent for a business-related lunch.

I visited for lunch on a Tuesday and was not at all surprised to find Flute still well patronised on a weekday. The venue has sophisticated decor and surrounds and very able, cheerful staff, who are happy to help with any issues or questions.

Lovely, crisp decor

My favourite part of my dining experience was when I ordered an iced latte with extra vanilla and I was able to measure out my preferred amount with shot glasses presented on a tray. Deconstructed food isn't my favourite, but a beverage is cute and novel, without feeling like a rip-off.

The food I ordered, a brunch style bacon and poached eggs with Parmesan, was reasonably priced, beautifully presented and delicious. Flute has clearly marked gluten-free and vegetarian options in their menu, plus kids' options.

After my visit, I would recommend Flute to anyone with upmarket tastes who enjoys a good brunch option.
