Floyd The Barista is a great new little stop alongside South Rd, in Moorabbin. Driving along the sloping hills towards the Moorabbin shopping centre, you'll spot a little vehicle - complete with coffee machine - jutting out from the Sandbelt hotel and bottle shop.

Just like a bottle shop, this business offers you the chance to get a drive through drink without stepping out of the car. While on first appearance, folks may think this to be a 'pop up' style business, Shane, the operator of Floyd The Barista [FTB] indicates they are putting down strong links there.

'We rent the space here, we've been going well here, and you should see just how many cars line up when its busiest'.
While it'd be understandable given the setup if the coffee was a 'no frills' style affair, instead, a wide array of drinks are on offer. Alongside this - and in what is the crucial thing overall - the quality of the coffee is good. Indeed, alongside rivaling some other brick and mortar cafe's around, on account of the coffee it delivers, it would appear to be better than them.

Crucially too, in terms of turnaround time, though the writer felt a stopwatch in hand would be most unfair to FTB's staff, the coffee was delivered from order to arrival in less than 3 minutes. If you are late for work, but in need of a coffee fix (and provided you can spare 3 minutes) this may be what you've been looking for.
Though some may see it as a small-scale affair, when it comes to its aims, offerings - and also the warm and friendly attitude of staff - its clear FTB is a fully fledged operation.

Given there are not all that many cafe's within close proximity - and almost none with such a convenience as drive-through - within the area, Floyd's is a stop well worth making when your next along South Rd.
