A Combination of Floral Botanic and Decadent Cafe Food
There is a new child in town. Meet Flower Child Cafe which recently opened inside Chatswood Westfield, just above the Hawker's Lane food court. Already, it has established itself as a charming, popular but busy brunch spot.
The cafe looked quite ordinary when we were waiting outside, but once they invited us in, we discovered a beautiful eatery space with natural botanic plants hanging from ceiling above. I absolutely loved the unique greenhouse ambience and my friend perked up at the smell of delectable coffee scents wavering in the air.
The Flower Child offers a beautiful all-day breakie menu such as fruit salad, acai bowl, French toast, delicious suggestions with egg and a big-sized breakfast plate. There are more sumptuous lunch options such as prosciutto & asparagus soldiers, barramundi burger and smoked chicken salad. The diverse brunch and lunch menus are also available all day long and accommodate everyone's wants and desires.
Filtered Coffee - V60 Pour Over $7 (The V60 pour over filter method results in a clean cup with high clarity. This is a gentle method of brewing coffee aimed at highlighting the best characteristics of a particular coffee)
Despite the many tantalising choices, we made our decisions quickly. Service was friendly even with a full-house by 12:30pm on a wet weekend. We settled in with a V60 Pour Over filtered coffee. After a lengthy catch up and we drained the last drop of our coffee, but our food was no where in sight. Upon investigation, there was a slip up with our orders, so our happiness was delayed.
House cured Ocean Trout $21 (Folded eggs, compressed baby cucumber, goat curd, tomato & micro coriander salad, served on toasted sourdough)
A generous serving of folded eggs served on toasted sourdough bread, topped with house cured ocean trout, goat curd, baby cucumber and tomato salad finally made its appearance. My friend was indeed hungry and she attacked the dish with a voracious determination.
My dish - the Flower Child French Toast, arrived soon after and it was an 'irresistibly naughty'' way to start the day. The sweet French Toast looked absolutely delicious! One look at this dish and I believe it will cheer up the grumpiest face in the world.
I plunged into the large buttery soft French Toast topped with banana mascarpone, sliced banana, fresh blueberries, raspberries, strawberries garnished with dark chocolate crumbs and a splash of salted toffee sauce! The French Toast was beautifully sweet and fluffy. All the toppings blended in beautifully together to create a taste sensation. My friend tasted it and only one word escaped her mouth: "Wow!"
