I know some of my friends find yoga a bit boring and not as upbeat as Zumba or body attack, but I've been a fan of yoga for a few years now. I mean, it is pretty cool to do a shoulder stand while breathing heavily.
And if you combine silent disco with yoga it might become even hipper. After a sold out session in Sydney 'Flow After Dark Silent Yoga' is coming to Melbourne this June for a one-time event. I am sure the event will feel right at home in Melbourne where we like to absorb the newest hipster trends like sea sponges (I say this with utmost affection - we are just a bunch cool cats).
The session is a collaboration between Flow Athletic and Silent Sound. Flow Athletic is a Sydney based fitness studio offering everything from yoga classes to personal training. Silent sounds is a company that specializes in wireless headsets. Together they aim to provide an immersive experience where you can focus on your vinyasa yoga and escape the stress of everyday life for 90 minutes.
The intention behind combining yoga and a wireless headset is so that the participant can focus on the yoga moves while not being distracted by external oddities. Both the instructions and the music will be in your head (literally), giving you that extra help in perfecting your down face dog.
The class will be run by Flow Athletic co-founder, Kate Kendall, accompanied by the beats of Sydney DJ James Mack. 90 minutes in total length, the class will be held at Melbourne City Town Hall at 7pm on the 14th June 2016. Although it is a while till June, the Sydney event was sold out so those interested should look at booking tickets soon. At $53 dollars it is a bit pricey for a single yoga class, however it is a one off experience and not your average yoga session (it's more of a yoga rave).
