Since I decided to change my lifestyle and quit sugar, flour or greasy foods, I started my journey in the search for healthy recipes, that are as yummy as the old ones but in a healthy way. I wanted to forget I'm under a self imposed "diet for life" eating delicious things that are, in fact, good for me.
One of those unforgettable yummy things for me, is the French "
Pain Au Chocolat" (french name for "chocolate bread"). The first time I had this I was in Paris and I just couldn't help myself when I saw the menu of any Cafe with this indulgence on it.
Yesterday, I got this recipe that I want to share with you, and even though is not a parisian patisserie
Pain au chocolat with fine technique or layered pastry, I can tell is a good replacement; a totally delicious, sugarless, flourless and healthy one, that you can prepare in four easy steps.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Makes: 5 or 6 pieces
Ingredients:
1/2 cup almond milk
1 whole egg
1 egg white
2 scoops vanilla whey protein
1/2 cup almond meal
2 stevia sachets
1 dark chocolate bar
1 cup walnuts
Preparation:
1- Pre-heat the oven at 180ºC.
2- Blend all the ingredients (except for the walnuts and chocolate) for 5 minutes.
3- Pour the mix on a cupcake tray and place into it some little pieces of chocolate and walnuts.
4- Place the tray into the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
Et Voilà! My recommendation is to have them when still warm, because the chocolate is totally melted inside. Have fun making them, and let me know how it goes.
