So much more than just flowers
This year, the theme of Floriade will be "Embrace Passion". Like every year, the practical expression of the theme will be flowers. Lots and lots and lots of flowers, especially tulips.

This is a massive event in Canberra every year, attracting more visitors in its three weeks than the entire population of Canberra. The first week is a little less colourful, as many of the flowers are yet to bloom. Parking is now paid parking throughout the Parliamentary Triangle.

Every year, Floriade gets bigger and better. The ferris wheel is a great way to get a bird's-eye view, and it's well worth looking at the program to see what's on week by week.

For kids, it's a great idea to get in super early to avoid overwhelming crowds - especially at the kid-focused activities, such as the brilliant petting zoo.

Every year my extended family has a picnic beside the Commonwealth Park Playground near the CIT carpark - that way we can dip into Floriade for as long or as little as we like.

The Nightfest is spectacular and well worth the money for the lights, the shows, and the shops.
