Floating Melodies is an opportunity to enjoy a musical performance with a difference. Rather than a bar or a concert hall, it's all aboard Adelaide's famous Popeye to enjoy some tunes on the River Torrens. For Christmas, Floating Melodies is putting on a special event that has a little taste of Sweden.
Floating Melodies takes place aboard the Popeye. Instead of the usual seating you'd find on a daytime River Cruise, benches are replaced with intimate tables. After a short cruise down the river, the Popeye docks and it's time for some music. Without the motor running, it's tranquil on the Torrens at night. Your ticket includes food, as well as one drink - if you want more they're available at the bar.
The Christmas Joy Ride has a Scandinavian twist. The food is inspired by Swedish delicacies and the music will feature covers of bands like ABBA and Roxette - there will also be some Christmas songs in the mix. You're encouraged to embrace the Christmas spirit, with tacky 80s Christmas t-shirts welcomed.
Tickets can be purchased online, and you'll board at the Elder Park Popeye dock. If you can't make it to the Christmas show then head over to their Facebook page to keep an eye out for future events. Regular Floating Melodies shows are on the 1st Sunday of every month.
