Purnong, Caurnamont & Districts Progress Association is bringing a huge freshwater regatta to the river shores of Caurnamont and Purnong on the 14th and 15th March 2020. In conjunction with the team from Floatfest, they'll make this year's event one to remember.
There'll be plenty of competitions with relay races, tug-of-war, and a milk carton regatta. Come and watch dragon boating, barefoot skiing and wake boarding demonstrations or take part in a water confidence and paddling skills workshop.
Floatfest will be holding their popular kayaking activities with Canoe the Coorong on Sunday in the lead up to the world record attempt at rafting together as many canoes and kayaks on the water at one time. These activities are in exchange for a requested gold coin donation to charity partner Can:DO 4 Kids.
There's plenty happening off the water as well with food stalls, a craft market by Kangaroo Patchers, houseboats open for inspection, displays and trade stalls, information stands, and a Boyz and Babes Swimwear and fashion parade. There'll be music and entertainment for the whole family along with free face painting, an activity zone and a treasure trail for the kids.
Head down to the reserve by the river ferry to register for the 'Carp-a-thon' fishing competition to see who can catch the biggest carp or take a cruise along the cliffs on Four Knots. There's heaps of accommodation options in the area and camping is available close by at Lakeside Camping Ground. Bar facilities will be available at the event along with food and drink vendors. Keep up to date with the details here.
