Walk a pier this weekend
This weekend, take a drive to the beautiful township of Flinders. One of the popular gathering spots is Flinders pier.

Old and rusted, made of solid timber, concrete and steel, this structure is an interesting place to walk along, sit on, study, crawl under, fish from and jump off. It's a great public place that allows for a variety of human activity.

Piers can be places of romance as they allow us to escape the land, jutting out to sea. They allow photographers to get photos from a different perspective.

Flinders Pier has been added to over the years. Originally built in 1870, the pier enabled supplies to be more easily delivered to the town of Flinders, which was settled in 1854.

Renowned for Squid fishing, the pier has been renovated over the years. Original images are seen around this historic town.
