Located in the heart of Sunshine Coast is located Matthew Flinders Anglican College, which is once again hosting the Flinders Festival on Saturday 23 August 2014. The objective of the festival is to raise funds which go back to help the children at the school. The festival begins at noon, and will end by 7pm to maximize on the daylight hours and yet enjoy the fireworks at twilight.
There is a long list of events which are being organized for the day, starting with the ever-favourite: carnival rides. An unlimited ride pass can be purchased for $40 or $7 per ride. Similarly, a day pass can be purchased for $22 for juniors of $4 per ride. However, if you plan to attend,
pre-purchasing the tickets will be available for a slightly discounted price.
The side-show alley will flaunt the all-time favourites as well, with face-painting topping the list, along with sand art, lucky ducks, shoot-a-prize, show bags, lucky dips, instant scratchies and so much more.
In the market area, you will be able to go on a hunt for a treasure, whether it is a clothing item, a book or jewelry. You may want to try your hand at decorating a cupcake if that is what fancies your desire.
When the tummy starts rumbling, don't fret and head on straight to the International Food Festival area, where you will be able to satiate your pangs of hunger with the delightful offerings from around the world.
There is nothing like a display of fireworks to mark a perfect end to a fun-filled day. Mark your calendar, and with a little bit of pre-planning, you can buy the tickets in advance, save a few bucks and avoid the queues on the day. Have fun, stay safe.
