Do you ever wish you could drop your kids off to Fairyland for an hour while you take a therapeutic shopping spree, or sit poised in a little corner café sipping a caramel latte with another childless mother? Well, I'll let you in on a little secret – there is such a thing as Fairyland! I'll help you find this special place, but I must make it clear that fairies are quite shy and they only appear once a week at special times. So, you need to plan this special outing for your Fairy Princess and Prince Charming children because after all, it is special and you want them to come dressed in their Fairy Princess, and Prince Charming clothes because magic works better when you're dressed up.

A few more important things you need to know is that fairies are invisible to children under three years old so only grown up Fairy Princesses and Prince Charmings' can visit. The special day that fairies appear is on Sundays once the sun's warmed up from 11.30am to 12.30pm, or just before the sun cools off, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Also, fairies get scared if there are too many Fairy Princesses or Prince Charmings so you need to call the Queen Fairy's secretary to make an appointment. Her name is Jo Morgan. She's very lovely and even has a pet dragon who sits on her shoulder. Her number is 07 5545 1157. Or, if she's off flying with the fairies you can call her mobile on 0417 973 311.

Now make sure you put her phone number in your favourites on your mobile phone because you're going to want to visit Fairyland lots of times so you can have regular 'Mummy, time outs,' with your other mummy friends. It only costs $9 to visit the Queen Fairy and she promises to read you a story, play games, and activities, and dress-ups, and best of all you get a special present to keep forever, and ever!

Now, there's one more thing that the Queen Fairy asks of you. She has been told by many a Fairy Princess and Prince Charming that they get sad when their mummies are late to pick them up because they have to sit quietly all by themselves and they don't want people to think that they don't belong to anyone, or that their mummies have forgotten them, so please make sure that you arrive on time to pick up your Fairy Princess or Prince Charming.

So, where is this special Fairyland? Well, in one of the most beautiful places on the Gold Coast, or course. Follow the eagle to Mount Tambourine, but stop on the Long Road at Eagle Heights. It's downstairs in the Fig Tree Corner Gallery Walk. Look for the big Fig Tree just outside. He is holding a lamp to shine the way.

The way to what you might be asking yourself? The way to the Illuminated Forest which you get to via the Enchanted Garden but not before you pass through the Summer Bower and the Ocean Grotto. It is the most magical place on the mountain! What you'll find here will delight you, and I know you won't want to leave! So, what are you waiting for?

Now, this isn't the end of the story yet. You see, fairies love to make friends, and what they wish for more than anything is to be invited to a Fairy Princess or Prince Charming's birthday party. You see, fairies are very hard workers. The Queen Fairy relies on them to keep Fairyland going. Without Fairy Princesses and Prince Charmings who believe in them, fairies would disappear and become extinct. So, by inviting a fairy to your birthday party, then lots of other Fairy Princesses and Prince Charmings would get to meet them and believe in their magic, and Fairyland would never disappear. Do you want to save Fairyland from extinction? Well then, you know what to do. Give the Queen Fairy's secretary, Jo Morgan a call and ask her what you can do to get two fairies to come to the party, and how you can turn your home into Fairyland. Or, if you only want a little party with less than six Princesses and Prince Charmings, you can have your party at Flights of Fancy.

And that, my lovelies, is the end of the story!

Flights of Fancy is open every day from 9.30am to 4.30pm, except for Mondays, but remember that special fairy appearances only happen at the special time of 11.30am and 1.30pm on Sundays.
