You may have heard of the autonomous bus that drives itself but did you know that you can actually ride on it as well right here in Adelaide? Well, Flinders University provides you with just that opportunity to take a ride on its driverless shuttle at Tonsley.

As part of the 'first-mile last-mile' public transport trial, you can ride the FLEX (Flinders Express) between Clovelly Park train station and Tonsley's Main Assembly Building. All you have to do is head to their website and make a booking. Rides are available, at no cost, every 15 minutes from 10am to 2pm on weekdays. By booking, you are participating in a research study and will be requested to complete a brief survey after your ride.

I took a ride on FLEX a couple of months ago and it was an experience. There were only three of us on that particular ride so we got the chance to ask all the questions we had. The volunteer coordinating the rides graciously listened to us and provided some information. Do note though that FLEX is not wheelchair accessible and children under 15 need to be accompanied by an adult.
