Lots of Big Ships

Home > Sydney >
This Friday the 13th of March The Royal Australian Navy will be steaming 15 chunky warships right into Sydney Harbour, accompanied by a Fleet Air Arm Flypast, in the biggest display of floating military hardware Sydney has seen since the bicentennial way back in 88.

You can see all the details here.

It's a real shame that this "Fleet Entry" is not happening on a Saturday so more people could enjoy it, however if you get the chance and work in or near the city (or are willing to get up early) it really will be worth the effort.

The ships will enter the harbour at 7.30am. If you are an early morning person get yourself up to North or South Head too see them steaming in.

In fact any vantage point on the Harbour east of the Sydney Harbour Bridge from 7.30am up until about 11am should provide a good view of the ships.

You can see the plan dictating where each boat will be anchored on this page (scroll down).

There will be a 21 Gun Salute from HMAS Sydney at 10.01am, followed by flypasts at 10.10am, 10.20am, and 10.30am.

Why? It should be quite a display.
