The City of Stonnington is proudly presenting Flavours, a FREE annual cultural festival, on Saturday, 17 March in the iconic Greville Street and Grattan Gardens, Prahran.All are welcome to attend this vibrant community event hosted by award-winning writer, performer and diversity crusader, Candy Bowers.This year's event coincides with the start of Cultural Diversity Week (17 - 25 March 2018) and is also part of Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2018!Festival-goers can expect an exciting showcase of culture, traditions and heritage from around the globe in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere!Come along from 11am and chill out with live music and performances, be inspired by cooking demonstrations, sample authentic dishes from all corners of the globe, purchase handmade gifts from the craft stalls and enjoy a fun selection of kids activities!Highlights include a powerful dance performance from Hong De Dragon and Lion Dance Association, as their 6m dragon weaves its way through the crowd to the pounding of drums, gongs and cymbals. Sounds of Polynesia will sweep you up with their traditional moves of the Cook Islands and the infectious Indigenous Hip Hop Projects will teach you hip-hop techniques that will get everyone up and dancing.The main stage will also play host to high energy performances from The Eastern Delights, the Mariachi Los Romanticos, the Tumbarumba Band and The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra that will take you from Greece to Mexico, to Brazil and parts of Africa!Meanwhile food connoisseurs can check out the Flavours Kitchen, which will be home to cooking demonstrations with MasterChef winner Poh, and local favourite Charlie Carrington from Atlas Dining.Little craft enthusiasts can join Jann Daly, from Smart Art for a grass head making workshop and the Hope Foundation will teach the art of Origami folding.
