Flat Rock Brew Café embodies everything that craft beer is about. A small nanobrewery is located on site, so at any given time you can expect to see a few delightfully refreshing Flat Rock beers making their way through the taps. In addition to local offerings, the remaining taps feature a rotating selection of guest beers from other craft brewers. The blackboard out the front will fill you in on what your current choices are. And it doesn't stop there.
If there's nothing on tap that you fancy a tipple of (or heaven forbid you've made your way through all of them!) the range available in bottles is astounding. With new stock coming in faster than new menus can be printed, it's always worth asking the bartender what is fresh in.
There are also impressive food offerings to go along with the quenching ales. With an Indian head chef you can be assured that anything originating from that region will be delectable. Ask the chef for a suggestion and he'll steer you towards the Onion Bhajis. For the record they pair up nicely with naan bread fresh from the tandoori clay oven.
Perhaps the two busiest times to visit Flat Rock are Thursday night and Sunday afternoon. Locals know Thursday as Singh's Curry Night. Patrons are served up naan, papadums, cucumber yoghurt and mixed pickles accompany the curry dish, which changes weekly. Expect to see North Indian gems such as chicken saag, lamb rogan josh and goat curry. The Sunday Roast is another standout with a different dish featured each week. Their facebook page is a good source of information as they'll often advertise the week's specials.
