Flamenco Guitarist, Concert performer and Composer

QSM Live will be showcasing some of Brisbane's best emerging artists at Milano Cafe and the Visitor Information Centre stages, on the Queen Street Mall in Brisbane City. The event is free for you to enjoy, so come along and explore the fantastic shopping and leisure precinct that is the Queen St Mall, while you fall in love with flamenco music, allowing it to whisk you away to the Spanish heartland of Andalusia.

The weekend will feature some of Brisbane's most talented vocalists guitarist and percussionist, including Camaron de la Vega; Flamenco Guitarist, Concert performer and Composer.

Come on a journey of the soul. Your chariot, a brilliant soundscape filled with high energy, acoustic music. Camaron masterfully blends the folk songs of Andalucía with the modern soul of Flamenco to impart the history of southern Spain.

Having spent 20 years accruing a staggering amount of experience and an arsenal of skills will not fail to amaze and awe, Camaron has studied in all styles of music and guitar and specialises in Flamenco and Gypsy Jazz, performing concerts all over the world.

In addition to live performance and touring, he has also recorded two albums of his own original songs and while in Australia, his group, 'The Gypsy Swingers' headlined the Ozmanouche Festival for three consecutive years.

In 2007 he lived in Spain, immersing himself in the Gypsy atmosphere, performing regular concerts and playing with friends from Sevilla to Cordoba and Jerez. In 2004 he studied guitar at the renowned Flamenco academy Taller Flamenco in Sevilla and has also spent time in Granada learning from the famous local guitarists there.

I first came across this brilliant musician when he played the Queen Street Malls upper stage as part of the Brisbane Festival 2011. I was awestruck. I was transfixed by his amazing performance both as a guitarist and lover of all World Music in general. I have been a guitar player for more than ten years myself and would hope that that gives me the authority to say that at the least, he is an amazing player at most, a genius.

Now for the exciting part, Camaron returns in October as part of the Flamenco Weekend that Brisbane marketing will be putting on. (October 7th-9th, Brisbane City)

He is booked to set to perform on the top (Milanos) and bottom (Visitor Info Centre) stages of the Queens Street Mall on the October 7th from 4-7.30pm and the 9th at the bottom stage from 1-4pm and I believe that he will once again wow fans and passersby alike.

With his extensive repertoire in Flamenco, Jazz and World Music, Camaron is a 'must see' during the Flamenco Weekend and will not disappoint. I for one will be checking out the performances and hopefully taking a lot of good photos to share with my readers.

More information about Camaron de la Vega can be found on his website www.camarondelavega.com and I certainly think it well worth a look.
