With so many galleries and museums here in Canberra, it's not surprising that there are so many fantastic exhibitions that take place all throughout the year. Here are five that are taking place this Spring:

Story time: Australian Children's Literature



Are we there yet?, Possum Magic, and Blinky Bill are all much loved Australian children stories that have been enjoyed over the decades. In this exhibition at the National Library, children's literature from the colonial period to the present will be on show. Perfect for children or those that want to take a walk down memory lane!

DreamWorks Animation: The Exhibition

DreamWorks Animation has created a number of household movies including Shrek, Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda and Trolls. This exhibition will give people the chance to explore more than 400 objects from the studio's archive, including original artworks, storyboards and scale-models, as well as immersive and interactive digital experiences.

Activism: forces for change in Canberra

This exhibition at the Canberra Museum explores Canberra's strong history of activism. It highlights the well-known fights like the fight for women's rights, for marriage equality and the establishment of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy. Although, it also shows smaller and less known acts of activism.

Women in Vogue

60 years of the Vogue Australia archive will be on show at the Portrait Gallery together with a special tribute to some remarkable Australian women who have featured in the pages of Vogue. The iconic portraits on display include Kylie Minogue and Elle Macpherson, among others. It's perfect for any fashionista!

Game Masters: the Exhibition



Unlike other exhibitions, Game Masters is a very interactive exhibition. It offers kids and adults a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process for the world's most popular video games over the last five decades, as well as a chance to play all 80 of them! Games on offer include Pac-Man, Singstar, Asteroids and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
