are NOT meeting the recommended daily activity guidelines. This puts the majority of Australian's at risk of many preventable physical and mental health concerns.
Unfortunately the sedentary behaviours that we model as parents become the normal way of life for our kids. Fit'scool, an Australian based charity, wants to change the future of every Australian's health by engaging the community in regular activity sessions.
The charitable organisation was founded by Ben Ryan, a father of three boys, who wanted to get his kids moving more and having fun with fitness. He recognised that while some kids love to engage in structured sport, every kid deserved the opportunity to engage in healthy, energetic play on a regular basis. The Fit'scool programs began operating at Virgina State School, on Brisbane's Northside, by providing kids in the local community with an hour of fun physical activity in a non-competitive environment.
The programs have grown to provide free fitness and activity sessions to the wider community to ensure that parents and adults are active, healthy and also realising the physical and mental benefits of physical activity.
Fit'scool currently provides free activity sessions for adults and children at two Brisbane locations. As the charity continues to grow, Fit'scool aims to have every school in Australia adopt the Fit'scool program and offer free fitness sessions in the surrounding communities.
The programs are open to anyone of any age and fitness level to participate. Current program sessions are:
