A fish n chip shop but not as you know it

Forget everything you've ever thought of about fish and chip shops. This is definitely a 'no greasy', 'no smelly' look or feel fish and chip shop. As soon as we drove into the carpark ,my daughter said 'Wow, that looks amazing, I can't wait to go in'.

I have been full of anticipation for the opening. The shop has been empty for a long time and had undergone massive renovations and now is a classy looking eatery with a fish basket style light shades, booth seating, bar seating, conventional seating and a fully stocked bar. In addition to this stylish casual restaurant, there is also a takeaway window. Both were flat out for their first Wednesday open. Families with young children seem to be the biggest group of customers.

While I was waiting for my meal, I cheekily asked another customer if I could take a photo of a very tempting looking meal. She said to me 'I'll tell you what, this fish is great. Is the best fish I've had in awhile.' So the anticipation was building enormously.

What a meal!

The Fishbuoys are very clever offering meal packs. For example, the fish pack with chips and salad or rice and salad from $14.50. There are other larger packs too, such as the ocean delight which includes four fish bites, two calamari rings, two prawns, two scallops, two crab sticks and chips for $20. A mixed seafood platter includes one dozen oysters natural, four king prawns, four seafood skewers, salt and pepper calamari, salad and chips for $80. If you're wanting something smaller, you can buy all your favourites like potato cakes and dim sims singly.

My meal tasted even better than it looks

Fishbuoys also stock burgers from $10, souvlaki for $12, other menu items too many to mention and they cater for vegetarians. If you want something sweet, they sell hot jam doughnuts and banana fritters.

Wish I'd seen this before I ordered

This is a family business and the owners have plenty of experience elsewhere. This prior knowledge and experience shows. The cafe is one that no doubt will be frequented by the locals and further afield because of the delicious fresh fish and all the other goodies you can get with it. The staff are trying to please and it's a very convenient spot. Their competition is none. I'd wish them all the best of luck but I don't think they will need it.
