Fun Fridays at the Gallery with food, wine, music and art
Fun, laughter and letting your hair down are words that one does not normally associate with the Art Gallery of South Australia. That is until now. Commencing November 7th, in a first for Adelaide, the Art Gallery will be hosting a series of "First Fridays".
First Fridays is the traditional name given to various public events across the world that occur on the first Friday of every month. First Fridays are typically events that combine the traditional end-of-week drinks and wind-down, and the start of the weekend social activities, with a series of special art gallery openings, exhibitions and displays.
Organisers at the Art Gallery of South Australia are hoping that these events will take on a life of their own, and will result in the Art Gallery becoming a "must do" event on the first Friday of every month.
Rather than closing at normal hours, the Art Gallery will remain open until 9pm on the first Friday of every month allowing guests to have a bite to eat and something to drink while unwinding to live music, listening to some great talks, and taking in the latest exhibitions and displays. All of this will occur in the established AGF W cafe, with entrance via the western laneway. And then when they are ready guests can head off to the city and lose themselves amongst the other gigs, shows, events and dining experiences that Adelaide has to offer.
The First Friday events are free to enter, with all the normal prices applicable for food and drink. Normal ticket prices also apply to other major Art Gallery events should guests wish to partake in these. The First Friday events are proudly presented by Santos, a long time supporter of the Art Gallery.
